Reinwein : a family for memory’s sake

This site is dedicated to the branch of our family founded by our ancestor Anton Reinwein. It tells the story of Anton Reinwein, a young cook from the Vienna region (Austro-Hungarian Empire) who followed the Prince of Montenegro to Cetinje, the capital of this small Balkan country, around 1876.
He stayed there, put down roots, and started a family with Evguenia Theodorides, who had arrived at the same time from a Greek community in Adrianople (Ottoman Empire).
The couple had four sons—Mihailo, Alexander, Constantine, and Gavrilo—whose lives were disrupted by the winds of history.
Today, we, their descendants, are trying to keep this family memory alive beyond time and borders.
We invite you to join us on this journey, many pages of which are still to be written!

Who were they? What were their life stories? How did they influence their era, or how was their era influential to them? We invite you to discover this here.

Archives

Each of us found documents in our boxes that complement the oral family history. They are gathered here.

Galerie

Photography was born in the 19th century, and our ancestors had their portraits taken many times. Here, we are leafing through their family album.
